STRATAGEMICS:
SOMETHING NEW IN A SUMMER DAY CAMP |
|
|
Strategy Gaming, All Day, Every Day
Yugioh,
Magic,
Star
Wars minis, and Settlersare
just some of the modern games we teach and play at our camps.
Play your favorites, trade with others and learn the top
strategies, tactics and tricks to get good at your game. Want to
learn other top games? We have them and we teach them. Want
to learn something new and different? We have that too! We
hold tournaments, we do coaching and teaching, we have fair
trading, and
hours and hours of free choice gaming, all in a positive environment.
Want to learn classics like Chess,
Backgammon and Mah Jong? We do that too! This is our fifth
year of offering these camps, and the response has been outstanding.

HOW DOES IT
WORK? WHAT IS THIS CAMP LIKE? |
|
|
|
The
morning starts out very relaxed, with campers trading, looking at the
collections of others, or playing
any variety of casual games. After about an hour, once everyone's
arrived, the Game of the Day is handed out and taught for basic rules
and best strategies. Then we play! Tournaments take
place in both expert and beginner categories. Casual gaming
and trading usually extends into lunch, and we play more physical games
outside, weather permitting, like Capture the Flag and Ultimate. Once we're back inside, final
rounds
are
played while those not involved in finals either watch the top
players, work out trades, learn new games or just play.
Tournaments run Monday through Wednesday; we reserve Thursday and
Friday to introduce as many new games as possible. Overall, it's a great week!

WHAT CAMPS
ARE OFFERED, AND WHAT ARE THE DATES? |
|
|
 |
|
For something a little more in-depth, try the STRATEGY CLASSROOM CAMP,
which offers plenty of gaming, but also a more academic
approach
to understanding strategy. In these camps we mostly game, but we
have a daily strategy class on strategic points such
as mathematical probability,
terrain
and technology as they relate to both major historical battles and to
the games of today. We've looked at Salamis and Gettysburg; this
year we'll look at the role of terrain
at the Normandy Beachheads in 1944, and we'll look at some of the
basic ideas in the developing academic discipline of Game Theory.
